Summer Brief: Initial Ideas

I brainstormed a variety of research topics that interest me and settled on researching into cocktails as it fits in well with my lifestyle throughout summer, working part-time in a bar that serves cocktails. I currently work in Brooklyn Bar on Call Lane in Leeds. I'm hoping that working here will expose me to lots of interesting primary research and get a thorough understanding of my research topic.

As 'Cocktails' is a very broad research topic I plan on beginning my research and finding a specific point that I want to specialise my research on. The main points of research within cocktails are:

- The history/ origin of cocktails
- Best cocktail bars in Leeds/ world
- Quality of alchohols
- Cocktail recipes (common and less common)
- Interviews with bartenders
- Info on equipment used and how to use them
- Flairing

To get a more primary type of research I have collected cocktail menus, magazines, books and bar specs rather than use the internet to get a variety of cocktail recipes for the same cocktail.
I'm also hoping to get some interesting photos of bars and cocktails being made. like the ones below I took the other day.
